| Customer Reviews: Five Stars for quality and price June 27, 2010 HB (Fort Mill, SC) 8 out of 8 found this review helpful
If you buy this set today, it is less than 2 dollars. I have not heard the entire set but I can you tell at this point, that is worth much more than a duece. I have heard all of the Messiah excerpts and really enjoyed them. It is a very lyrical performance with lots of feeling and more than enough passion. The singing is excellent. I have also heard a suite for trumpet, organ and small chamber orchestra. The trumpet playing was simply spectacular. Those four tracks alone are worth the price of the entire set. Back in the 78rpm days, 99 tracks would have cost you 99 dollars. 99 dollars would have paid your rent and food for a month. So put down your [...] bucks and enjoy lots of great music.
Let's rate the product and not Amazon June 29, 2010 Theodore A. Viva (Bangor, PA USA) 6 out of 6 found this review helpful
This series of The 99 Most Essential ... Masterpieces is a stroke of genius. They are great quality performances and you can't beat the value. This is a great way to enjoy Handel or any composer with low monetary risk. Keep them coming!
Excellent compilation, and great performances July 26, 2010 Sonoma's Davey (Guerneville, CA United States) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
Once again Amazon scores in the 99 Most Essential Masterpieces series. This collection of Handel's music covers a wide range of styles, including choral, orchestral and chamber music, both sacred and secular. And it's all great, with excellent performances throughout. Despite the consecutive numbering, the Messiah here isn't quite complete. But it's nearly complete, and there's plenty of it here to enjoy and fully appreciate Handel's genius. And the performers are first-rate. Most of the other works are complete, and offer a fine survey of Handel's range. Organ lovers will enjoy the many selections here including organ as a solo or ensemble instrument.
There's nearly 5 hours of music here. Handel was very prolific, so there's much more of Handel's music that's not included with this compilation. But to get you started with this great composer, this is a perfect introduction.
"Buy MP3 Album with 1-click" July 13, 2010 C. J. Lueder (Fairfax, VA USA) 1 out of 3 found this review helpful
This is in response to the person who had trouble downloading the album. In the top right corner of the page is a brown button that says:
"Buy MP3 Album with 1-click"
Click that and then say yes on the confirmation page. If you don't have the amazon download-installer on your system, it will prompt you through that first. Click "run" or "open" rather than save.
If your browser has pop-up-blocker, there is a "Try Again" button in the middle of the subsequent page.
Kit.
Nice Package, Although Hard to Open June 28, 2010 Abortionist-Sam (San Francisco, CA United States) 1 out of 64 found this review helpful
Edit:
I will raise my rating from 1 star to 3 stars, because I finally figured out how to download the mp3 album and though I haven't listened to the entire album yet it is good so far and certainly worth spending $1.99 on (if you don't already own all this music). I have another version of Wassermusik (Water Music) that is excellent and I think the version on this album is nearly as good at some points.
I found this $1.99 for 99 Handel tracks deal on a facebook ad, by the way. It would be nice if Amazon would make it more clear exactly what I'm supposed to click in order to complete the purchase, though. Part of the "product" is the "package", I would say, and this "package" was very hard to open. What confused me was the "Buy mp3 Album with 1-Click" button, which is what I eventually clicked to download the album. The way the button text is worded makes it seem like it is advertising Amazon.com's "1-click ordering," which I'm not interested in. Therefore I tried to find a way to download the mp3 album in the regular way. But apparently that button is the only way, and it doesn't seem to be associated with amazon's 1-click ordering after all.
I also want to mention that as soon as I clicked "post" on my original review I noticed a typo, but Amazon provided no "edit" button on that page. I only saw an edit button once the review comments came to my inbox.
Pre-edit review (0 of 18 people found useful): Title: This looks great Review: This looks great! The only problem is I have no idea where to click to actually make the purchase. Thanks for nothing, Amazon!
